I am a very emotional person and it is my greatest attribute as it is also a curse. I feel my way out of things, through things, and around things. My trust lies in the deep intuitive sense of Knowing and I guess what gets me in trouble is the fact that I let my feelings overwhelm everything else; I shove my common sense into the back corners of my mind and I let the emotions set in, poisoning my past efforts of progression. It’s a constant battle, but a necessary one. With every troubled thought that surfaces, I dissect its meaning and sort between what I feel and what I already know and it’s my logic that protects my emotions from further damaging my spirits. Most of the time, our battles aren’t picked wisely enough therefore we get upset over self-created conflicts. I didn’t want to subject myself to that, so I practiced the control, that constant reminder of keeping calm and it’s changed my life. How I look at things, how I perceive certain issues, how I handle my frustrations and even my sadness, all met with this new-found patience. I’ve built a strong backbone for myself relying on the power of my mind. But still, certain emotions are subtle and only natural—the fear of disappointing those who trust me, of hurting the ones closest to me, of not being able to take care of them, of failing them. Ultimately, it’s the weight of my love that keeps the soles of my feet on the ground, but my mind-as conflicting and hazardous as it may be-will always remain floating along the skies above my big ol head.
